After studying how forces of motion work we spent some time discussion the Engineering Design Process. From there, students, working in pairs, were asked to use the EDP to create a "machine", using Legos, which could be pushed the length of the classroom carpet. There was a lot of discussion, trial and error, and fun going on during the planning and creating phases. Some of our results were expected, but many were unexpected. As we were experimenting with our machines, I heard quite a few students saying "Next time, we should...." It was a great first try!
