Help! I'm stuck in the Arctic!

We have spent the last month learning about all different kinds of animals, their adaptations, and how they aid in survival. We have compared animals from different species and habitats to determine what they all have in common. What the kids have discovered is that all creatures need a way to deal with weather/temperature, a way to get enough food and water, and protection from predation. All along, they have been learning and using the vocabulary of the discipline and making connections through research.

After much discussion and learning about the concept of adaptations the kids were tasked with creating a "home" for someone who might be stranded in the Arctic. The kids created a cozy place for their survivor which included a way to stay warm, a method of collecting food and water, and some way to protect themselves. Once the designing and building was done, they worked on sharing their learning by uploading photos to Scratch Jr. They recorded explanations for their construction choices and programmed their project to play their narration along with arrows pointing at specific items.
